Often referred to as Fuse, the Free Unix Spectrum Emulator brings back the ZX Spectrum experience from the 1980s. It also targets its wide variety of clones for Windows, macOS and Linux. The emulator is available for free and comes with a GNU license. Some of its ports target specific platforms – PlayStation 3, Wii, Nokia N810, Android or GP2X. The program began in 1999 and it suffered a wide variety of updates – developers were still trying to find the perfect version by 2019. All these constant updates have brought a well deserved reputation – the most complete and accurate emulator of Spectrum for Linux.
Since the Free Unix Spectrum Emulator is so appreciated, some parts of its code have been used in a bunch of other projects – most of them given as free software. Since the development is still active, suggestions and bug reports are still taken into consideration.
