Lameboy DS was one of the most appreciated GameBoy and CameBoy Color emulators out there. It was particularly created for Nintendo DS and it saw a few issues overtime. It took quite a while between various versions to be released – with the latest version, 0.12, released more than a year since the previous one came out. The latest version came out in 2009, meaning the emulator project was probably abandoned. You can still find it for free over the Internet and it still does a fairly good job, but do not expect any updates or the bug reports to actually bring some changes.
The latest version fixed many issues associated with the emulator. For example, Lameboy DS gained better interrupt timing – ideal for Mario Land 2 boss levels. Then, the back light for the menu screen was turned off when not in use, while full screen scaling became reality – the aspect ratio became completely irrelevant.
