Available for free as an open source project, PCSX is a powerful video game console emulator. It perfectly replicates applications for Sony PlayStation on various computers. Written in C or GTK, the emulator has seen a bunch of different versions overtime. New varieties and updates have also come up with similar, but different names. However, the program is an abandoned project now. Despite the last version coming out in 2013, the project is still widely available over the Internet. Gamers will have to find the ROM images themselves, as copyrighted files cannot be included in the package.

Apart from its smoothness, speed and accuracy, PCSX has also gained popularity for its high compatibility. The emulator runs perfectly with a series of operating systems. Apart from Microsoft Windows, it also runs on Linux and Mac OS X. It is worth noting that you can find it under the GNU General Public License.
