pSX is a PlayStation 1 emulator that kills out of the box. It is an excellent emulator running on Microsoft Windows and comes with a big plus over its rivals – it does not have a plugin system. In other words, you do not have to work plugins out and adjust settings – simply install it and use it straight away. There are no ROM images in the package – you will have to get them yourself. While still a well rated emulator, pSX was abandoned in 2007, after its latest release. It can still be found for free over the Internet.
It is important to know that pSX is mostly developed for older and slower computers. Given today's computers, it is less likely to provide the right experience. It can easily replicate games like Tekken 3, Resident Evil 2 or Final Fantasy IX – good accuracy and decent speeds.
