What is ScummVM emulator?
ScummVM can emulate the Scumm engine, as well as a bunch of other hardware solutions for games. It is focused on adventure games and provides access to more than 1,8000 games altogether. While not specifically aimed at a platform or hardware, this general emulator is the biggest of its kind – no other general emulator can handle so many games. The multi platform emulator runs on more operating systems. Its operating principles are easy to understand – it modifies some of the executable files in games in order to make them playable on more platforms.
ScummVM provides access to 2D point and click adventure games (such as Maniac Mansion or Monkey Island), 3D point and click adventure games (Escape from Monkey Island or The Longest Journey), text adventure games (Colossal Cave Adventure), adventure games like the Myst series and RPGs – such as more versions of Ultima. It comes for free.
